PM Modi foresees political earthquake within six months post-LS results

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing an election rally at Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas, announced a significant political shift anticipated within the next six months following the Lok Sabha election results on June 4. Campaigning for BJP candidates in Diamond Harbour, Mathurapur, and Joynagar, Modi emphasized the potential for transformative political change driven by voter participation.

Modi highlighted the power of each vote, suggesting that the results would catalyze a political upheaval. “Your one vote will help to change the political direction of the nation. After June 4, in the next six months, a major political earthquake will take place in the country,” Modi asserted. He predicted the decline of parties dependent on dynastic politics, noting that even their own members were losing faith. “They are all seeing in which direction the country is moving and the direction in which their parties are heading,” he added.

In his speech, Modi criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) for altering the demographics in West Bengal's border areas through policies of appeasement and negligence in implementing central schemes. He accused the TMC of facilitating cross-border infiltration, which he claimed was depriving local youth of opportunities and resources. “Infiltrators are snatching away the opportunities of youths in West Bengal. They are usurping your land and properties. The entire nation is concerned. The demography on the bordering areas have been changed,” Modi said.

Modi also questioned the TMC’s opposition to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), accusing them of spreading misinformation to protect illegal infiltrators. “Why did they (TMC) oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and are spreading lies and rumours? They want the illegal infiltrators to settle in West Bengal,” he claimed.

The rally was significant as nine Lok Sabha seats in Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, and North 24 Parganas are slated to vote in the final phase on June 1. Despite the BJP's previous success in West Bengal, where they secured 18 of 42 seats in 2019, the TMC retained control of all nine seats in these districts. Modi's rally in Kakdwip marked his final appearance in West Bengal for this election season before moving on to campaign in Odisha and Punjab.
